Old French Fashion Illustration by Heloise Leloir – Mother’s Day Card
From an antique fashion plate for La Mode Illustree by Heloise Leloir. Heloise Suzanne Leloir was one of the great fashion plate artists of the 19th Century and was known for her highly detailed engravings. Part of a family of distinguished artists, she was the daughter of the painter Alexandre Colin and married the painter Jean-Baptiste Auguste Leloir (1809-1992). Heloise’s two sisters – Anais Toudouze and Laure Noel – were also talented artists and fashion plate illustrators. Her son Maurice Leloir, began his career as an artist, and later became a film producer in Hollywood.
